Poem 28 : Once Upon A Time

 Once Upon A Time

                             - T ABRAHAM

There was once a time when I didn't know to write,

It was long, long back,

I don't know to speak, read and walk,

There was a time when I learned A-B-C-D,

It was a long time back,

I wrote the alphabets of English and Tamil,

I saw a star in my notebook with teacher's red pen,

Sometimes a big star, sometimes a small star,

Sometimes a plenty of stars, sometimes stickers of stars,

Stars for which I long to write a test,

A motivation to any kinder gardener,

Surely it will one day make you knowledgeable,

There was a time when I wrote slow,

Unable to complete the classwork notebook,

Getting scolded for incomplete work,

Punished for not doing the homework,

There was a time when project presentation was taught,

The drawing I drew on the title page,

My teachers love to see the cartoon drawn,

My want to get back the project I have done,

But it remained as a sample in their hands,

There was a time when I had less sleep,

To write records of experiments done,

The chemicals that cause headache when inhaled,

The sticky biological samples which disgusted me,

The calculus that drive me crazy,

The experiments with electricity that were always done with disinterest,

There was a time when I entered a new place,

A place known as a 'Heaven on Earth',

At first was anxious and felt lost,

But slowly as thought,

Everything came to an equilibrium,

Now it is the time,

The time to be less stressed, happy and productive,

With health, happiness and joy surrounding,

At this heaven on earth I visit everyday,

Where true friendship is formed with a few but with the best,

Where nature's beauty can be admired by my soul.
