Poem 91 : The Golden Book

 The Golden Book
                                - T ABRAHAM

The book of life,

The book of creation,

You are the book of future,

You speak the truth.

You are a book,

Many books within a book,

You speak of the past,

The olden days,

Which are the golden days,

You have both old and the new,

Oldness with it's luster,

Newness with it's spring,

This book gives me peace,

This book strengthens me,

It gives me knowledge,

It gives me the wisdom,

I can see the truth,

The truth beauty in it,

Old is gold,

Slow and steady,

But the newness is,

Like the train,

Which moves away,

As fast as it can,

The old and the new,

The gold and the silver,

This book is a golden book,

A book to treasure forever.

After about a week joining at Madras Christian College (Autonomous) for pursuing my undergraduate course in B.A English Language and Literature under the aided stream I had my first visit to my college library named as 'Miller Memorial Library'. Since, it was my first time I just took a random book from the 'English' section and read it. Then, whenever I had my free hours I started to have regular visits to the library. Till the end of my 1st semester I used to go either to the 'English'or 'Philosophy' section to read. Then, from my 2nd semester onwards I started to use Reading Hall 1 as our syllabus started to have poetry, prose, drama and fiction as I had my own books to read. I felt that my college's library is one among the places that is really good for people who want to use their time productively especially for the arts students.
